There is an unlimited scope for interest groups as they are run by the members for the members. Venues may be in members homes, a room hired in a local church, school or scout hut, a central cafe or library.
There is usually a small charge depending on the venue. Refreshments are the order of the day to oil the conversation and the sharing of knowledge.
The u3a does not favour the use of teachers as the ethos is of a self help type so that everyone in the group contributes to the pool of knowledge from their own research and learning. It is a very sociable affair with the emphasis on an unpreasured learning style as there are no exams or awards to be gained. It is simply for pleasure.
Two people may constitute a group though to a certain extent the larger the group the more ideas and information can be exchanged and fed upon. Truly the sky is the limit.
